Professor / Sensei Jeffery Martinez is a lifelong martial artist with nearly 30 years of experience and the founder of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Nipomo, established in 2016 and formerly known as Central Coast Jiu-Jitsu Academy. He earned his Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt in 2023 under Rener and Ryron Gracie and is a certified Gracie University instructor.
A U.S. Army Combat Veteran, Jeff served with the All American 82nd Airborne Division as a 13F Forward Observer, deploying to Afghanistan with the 2-505th Parachute Infantry Regiment and later serving with the 1-118th Field Artillery Battalion. He completed Army Combatives Levels 1 and 2 during his service.
In addition to his Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, Jeff holds a 6th-degree Black Belt in Keichu-Do Karate/Ju-Jutsu, earned through being under the tutelage of the late Soke Karl W. Marx (founder of Keichu-Do) and Grandmaster Eldridge Conley. His formal Judo training began with Sensei Mario Rubio (1984 Olympic alternate and founder of Five Cities Judo Club) and his son, Sensei Greg Rubio. Promoted to Shodan by Sensei Paulo Augusto in 2020, Jeff is a registered Shodan Black Belt with USA Judo and a Certified Regional Coach under that organization.
